By Hing Socheata

Popular artists were either forced into hard labor or killed during the rule of the Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979. But for Keo Malis, his fluting skill was a valuable asset used to save his life. He played the flute for the villagers and the Khmer Rouge cadres every night to help make them escape the horrible reality during that time.
